There are so many variables that could affect what is going on, one must ask more questions before one can even try to answer the first. How are you measuring the swr? Did you set the element length to make the swr come down at the shack or did you set it measuring it in the air. If the latter, how did you measure it? How far were you off the ground when you did it. Have you borrowed a regular balun to try it? What are the swr readings if you add six feet to the feedline? Is there anything in the line between the measuring device other than the coax and a balun? How old is the coax you are using? - - . . . . . . - - . . . . - - . . - . . 73, Guy k2av@contesting.com Apex, NC, USA ----- Original Message ----- From: greg <greg@valkyrie.net> To: <Force12Talk@qth.com> Sent: Friday, June 23, 2000 7:14 PM Subject: [Force 12 Talk] C3S > i just put up a c3s and im not happy with the coverage of 10 mtrs > i have the driven element set to the londest element lenght and i can > not get it to cover more than 500 khz > > freq swr > 28.200 2.1 > 28.300 1.9 > 28.400 1.5 > 28.500 1.2 > 28.600 1.3 > 28.700 1.6 > 28.800 2.0 > > the center band is about what i want > but i think it should cover more > i do have rg8 "belden 8237" > for my balun 8 turns at 10" in DIA. > and 100 ft of RG 213 coming into shack > antenna hight 58 ft in the clear > > > 15 and 20 mtrs seem to be ok > what should i do ? > > tnx > greg N8TDL > > > > -------------------------------------------- > Force12Talk mailing list provided as a service by Force 12 Antennas, Inc. > Force 12 Web site: http://www.qth.com/force12 > > Submissions: send to Force12Talk@qth.com > To unsubscribe: send a blank e-mail to Force12Talk-leave@qth.com > Force12Talk Message Archive: http://www.qth.com/force12/list/force12talk > For problems with the list, contact force12@qth.com > > > -------------------------------------------- Force12Talk mailing list provided as a service by Force 12 Antennas, Inc.
