Some of the antennas do have live stuff (driven elements, linear loading
wires, etc.) close to the mast/boom plate but it is generally not a problem.

What does the antenna look like with your antenna analyzer connected
DIRECTLY to the feedpoint (no balun inline)? What does the SWR look like?
What do the resonances look like? Does this antenna have the little feedpoint
coil or parallel wires ala C31 (I haven't seen a C19 yet)?
