I use the RTV quite a low - with some bad experiences on some brands.
Unfortunately I can't identify the bad ones because I wasn't aware of the
dammage until years later when I took some coax connectors loose. I found
some bad chaulky looking corrosion on the center pin of my PL259s. I quit
using Silicone (RTV) until I found others with NO PROBLEMS. I've had no
trouble with Dow Corning 732 RTV Sealant. Generally speaking if you smell
STRONG acetic acid (vinegar smell) don't use it. As for weather/UV
dammage I'm having no problems with the clear and it's used up the tower.
As far as coax connector sealing, a good grade of black electric tape
wrapped and overlapping starting from the bottom, is hard to beat and
lasts a long time.
