effects of icing. This stimulated my memory about some information posted several years ago by K3ZJ that may be of interest. Excerpts follow: "N7CL notes the existence of a hydrophobic paint product formulated for aluminum. His message was posted to the reflector. This I found very interesting, and I tracked it down : it is still available, now called Vellox, sold by Vellox Corp., 100 Park St., Ayer, MA 01432 ph. (508) 772-6302. Primer covers est. 350-400 sq.ft./gallon & currently costs $92.00 (discount for purchases of 25 or more gallons...). Top Coat covers est. 90-120 sq.ft./gallon & currently costs $77.00 (discount kicks in for 100 or more gallons [!]). ....Spoke with the owner today and learned two additional facts: formulation can be used on most materials, not just aluminum; therefore can be used on steel (whether guy wires or tower itself). Also, not on price list but available is a kit of a pint of primer and container of spray paint, estimated sufficient for 20-30 sq. ft coverage, that retails for $40. This might be about right for a contester's antenna farm!" FYI 73, Pete Smith N4ZR Contesting is ...
