the calcultion result are this: Wind Speed: 70MPH. Mast OD: 2 ", Ant 1 (C-31XR): 10.7 sq.ft , 1 ft height , 82 Lb, 23.8 ft turn radius. Ant 2( Mag 240N): 6.8 sq.ft , 9 ft Height, 85 Lb, 30.4 ft turn radius. Total bending moment is : 18360 inch.Lb. Recommended Yield Strength :42000 PSI . Mast thickness: 0.188" Recommended rotor for >4536 FT.LB torque are : HY-Gain HDR 300A, Yaesu G-2800SDX. Material for the mast : Carbon Steel CD 1026 or 1022 0r 1018 or 1016 I bought a Tailtwister rotor because is was rated for Antennas until 20 sq.ft in my case the Area is 17.5sq.ft but taken this calculation it is not recommended!! The Question is in the practice what are you using in similar conditions? ( I live in Buenos Aires we never have ice on the antennas and winds are never more than 50 mph.) thanks for your comments , Francisco LU3EEC. -------------------------------------------- Force12Talk mailing list provided as a service by Force 12 Antennas, Inc.
