Subject: Enhancements to my 80m four square

While I'm relatively happy with the performance of my 80m four square
using EF-180BVs, I'm looking at making some enhancements this spring to
improve the near field efficiency and overall performance. I currently
have four elevated radials per antenna and am thinking about increasing
that number to eight. And what seems a little more ambitious is to
install a ground screen. The suggested method to create a ground screen
per ON4UNs book is to construct a wire grid with a spacing of 1m over
the entire near field. Using this approach for my array which spreads
over an approximate 250 feet X 250 feet area, a total of 40K feet of
wire would be required. Has anyone tried this and does it work? If
this does work where is a good source for cheap wire, it looks like I'll
need enough to wire a small town!

Les, N1SV
