Been busy assembling a C-4SXL on a home brew PVRC mount on top of a 50ft tower. Now only the 20-10 Drivers and the 40m reflector left to assemble. My antenna made some years ago. Directions are for 4.5-5in jumper out from spreader for DE, 12 in out from spreader for reflector to give centre freq 7030. Any hints on tuning the 40 m linear load system much appreciated. The PVRC mount seems to be working as described in ARRL Antenna book, but I have yet to wrestle with the outer elements. Am using a 10.5mm static climbing rope up the tower with a rock climbing device that rides on the rope but locks if you fall. Seems really good on tests near ground and means I am always hooked to the fall restraint. Also made a gimmick for hoisting the elements aloft. Used a Mole wrench whch I snap on the elements just outside the grey insulating tubes. The wrench is connected to the halyard by a short stranded wire loop secured by a hose clip on the body of the wrench on the cylindrical bit that the adjusting screw feeds in to. So far no element has come adrift. Elements can be fitted by the u bolts while the wrench still attached, then just flick off the wrench and send it back down on the halyard. Also means ground crew do not need to know how to tie knots to secure the elements. 73 end Barry Kirkwood PhD ZL1DD Signal Hill Homestay 66 Cory Road Palm Beach Waiheke Island 1240 NEW ZEALAND www.waiheke.co.nz/signal.htm -------------------------------------------- Force12Talk mailing list provided as a service by Force 12 Antennas, Inc.
