Subject: C4XL vs C4SXL

As Bob does, I like stacking smaller antennas, v.s. one larger antenna. Gives
you more flexibilty. For example with my C4XL at 75' and a C3 at 45', I find
the lower C3 works much better for domestic stuff. Then in phase, it really
works the dx. I'm fixing to move out to the country and plan on adding a 3rd
antenna, a C3E (I'll add the extra 10m reflectors to the C4XL and my original C3
in the field).

I think multiple antennas are superiour.

Now to Gary's question. If your going to go with one antenna to cover the 4
bands its tough to beat the C4XL. I have no experience with the C4SXL, but if
$$ or size is not a problem go with the C4XL. Also, instead of using the tuner
for 40, unless you already have one, get the 40m relay box that mounts on the
boom. You then tune the 40m driver for ssb, when you switch the relay on it
adds some inductance at the feed point and moves the reasonant freq down to the
cw portion of the band. I have one but have not been able to get on the tower
to tune the box for the cw portion. It looks like I need to remove a coil on
each coil in the relay box.
