I've got a C3E mounted on the side of a Trylon tower at about 35'. The Trylon tapers so there is about 30" of tower at the mount point. I'd say the adjacent elements are 8-12" away from the tower legs but I'd have to climb to get exact measurements. Also, the beam is not mounted parallel to a side - it is perpenducular - I have a small pipe mounted parallel to a side that sticks out one side and the beam sits on that to get the right bearing. Anyway, 15 and 20 meters are high in SWR. My FT990 is in the shop right now and its SWR meter always reads kind of low. I've since tried an FT100D and it is much more sensitive, so I've been using my Autek RF-1 to take measurements from inside the shack (I have no other way to measure SWR - the 100D does not have a meter per se, it only complains :) ). Here's what I see: 14.0 1.6:1 14.1 1.6 14.2 1.5 14.3 1.4 14.4 1.4 21.0 2.7 21.1 2.0 21.2 1.9 21.3 2.5 21.4 3.1 21.5 4.0 28.0 2.8 28.1 2.6 28.2 2.6 28.3 2.8 28.4 3.0 28.5 3.0 What I'd like to do is lower the SWR on 15 and 10 meters without wacking 20 out too much. This is unclear territory for me since the dips in SWR seem to be in the band, but they're still too high. My amp doesn't have trouble tuning them, but I would still like to run barefood with the 100D. Any suggestions? I'm thinking about a 2nd C3E on my 2nd Trylon at the same height pointed to SA, so I'd like to figure out what is up.
