I've been told the Sigma-5's take off angle deteriorates if the antenna
isn't installed just slightly above ground level.

I'm pretty much forced to install the Sigma-5 about six to eight feet above
the ground so that it clears a wood fence. Has anyone done a similar
installation? If so, has the DX performance suffered because of it?
