I had a similar experience with TH-5 to C-3S.
My QTH is right on the coast and the TH-5 traps would become deranged when a
bit of a blow coated them with salt from the atmosphere.
The C-3S has less F/B but by subjective rating has as good or better forward
gain. Also superior mechanically and only about half the size and weight.
