and operating. A small effort in the Naqp let us know that they were infact working. They were wired about an hour before the test so I am charting the swr's etc now and will report soon. I can report that the top C31, which is between a Mag340N and a 180B rotatable dipole appears to be perfect with no interaction from either 8' away, spaced antennas. This is exactly what Tom and Natan predicted! The stack is C31@35 tic, C31@75 special sidemount rotor, Mag340N at 110', C31@ 117, 180B@ 124'. The next few weeks should yield some good data. One of my C31's is an early model, one is 3 yrs old and one is new. The new one is at the top and it was perfect, plug and play right out of the box. Initial charting of it's swr was excellent, just like my other two. The Mag340N also seems at this time to be almost flat for the entire 40M band. Kudos to F12. More precise data to follow soon. 73, Tommy WD4K -----Original Message----- From: James W. My 3stack is presently in conversion from triband feed to single-band feed, but it has worked GREAT as verified by experienced contesters who have visited (ADDITIONAL GUEST OPS WELCOME TO APPLY FOR THE WW es ARRL CW es SSB TESTS! COME CHECK STACKS FOR YOURSELF!). Stack normally predominates for DX contacts. When we run in contests, we have been running the stack (except when we had to split one yagi off for Rig 2*) and not taking time to check alternatives. Business is brisk and we get a lot of "biggest signal on the bands" altho I'm sure that happens to lots of people. Can usually break DXpedition pileups even when DX station is pointing elsewhere. Yes, sometimes we're beat by low tribanders. We have two different height situations depending on direction. We are on the edge of a cliff, and the top C51XRN is 330' over water from Easter Island through VK/ZL/JA, Scandanavia and Central Europe, 110' over land from Central Europe thru AF and SA. I was really forced to go to stacking to minimize high lobes. 40M is the most frequent exception, and not really part of the thread-- bottom yagi, which is around 255' over salt water to the horizon, often predominates for US and Caribbean. Also, where we're headed over land to Western Europe, the top one alone is frequently but not always the best. Spacing is 37.5' for triband and 75' for 40. BTW, my C51s were the first produced (at my request for a C31XR-equivalent plus 2el 40) and the first converted to XRN. I'm delighted with the Ns but also had good luck with the earlier smaller ones--have 4 of the earlier elements available, including ph/cw relays--anybody interested in one or more? *may not be necessary when we've gone to single-band feed-- will advise. Yes, we're taking steps to protect rigs. 73, Jim, VE1JF (over 50 F12 monoband elements deployed in contests) Message text written by "Rick Bullon" >Hello Guys I don't have any of the antenna's talked about in this thread but I have noticed that on the F-12 web page there are pictures of 2 stacks of F-12 beams. One is the stack at VE1JF he has 2 C51XRN's with a C31XR in the middle. Another example on the site is W9NO who has a C51XR over a C31XR. I know the thread is about stacking C31XR's but maybe if someone asked on of these guys how their stacks are working it would give some real world data to the discussion. 73 Rick KC5AJX< -------------------------------------------- Force12Talk mailing list provided as a service by Force 12 Antennas, Inc.
