hard to believe, we have used Yagis as supplemental antennas (shhh!) - use steel wool or 3M metal cleaning pad to quickly clean inside and outside of joining element ends - a quick shot of WD40 in the inside tube of joining elements to prevent seizure upon disassembly - install one rivet at each junction (doesn't matter which hole of the 3 hole set) I personally would not tape the rivets in for an entire Yagi. The tape will sometimes fall off, and you don't want to lower the antenna later on... The only time we tape a rivet is sometimes on the tip of an antenna that needs to have the element adjusted in the field for VSWR. For disassembly, here's what you should bring: - drill, preferably cordless. If corded, make sure you have a long extension cord so you can easily reach the elements without having to bring them in the house. hi. - 2 1/8" bits, as sometimes 1 bit will break - flat file - sometimes you will drill out the rivet mandrill, but not the entire rivet. You will occasionally need to flat file the remaining rivet head so it falls through the element. - if gunky, wipe down or wash elements. - pair of gloves helps when you remove the rivet heads every few minutes from the drill bit I would absolutely bring your C3SS without reservation. Well, if you are right on the salt water, I would bring a vertical too!!!
