Very happy that you were so successful. Your experience of a rotatable dipole, that is materially higher and presumably more in the clear than the tower mounted inverted V, is not hard to believe. Is your tower guyed or freestanding? The effect of conductive guys in the antenna near field of is another variable that must be considered when evaluating the DX performance of tower mounted wire antennas.
