house on a completely exposed 800' hilltop and the xyl said she was hearing ice hitting the ground from inside. I have three C31XR's stacked and a Mag340N and I checked them all, rotated the rotors etc. I saw little if any change in any of them.... all covered with ice. They did look really sad with the droop but all sprung back to normal, no prob. Even the top 180B with major tip sag came back with no prob. I never compared them with my swr graphs but all seemed fine and nothing jumped out at me so I think they were aok. Your experience may vary but this is my most recent. 73, Tommy WD4K -----Original Message----- From: Peter Chamalian [mailto:W1RM@attbi.com] Sent: Wednesday, December 25, 2002 11:30 AM To: Force12Talk@qth.com Subject: [Force 12 Talk] C31XR and Ice I'm seriously considering a C31XR to replace the antenna that was smashed by the November 16-17 ice storm in NE Connecticut. Based on the comments of some, it appears this antenna will stand up to 2 inch ice and 30-40 mph winds. I'm on a 1k foot hill and open in all directions. I'd appreciate any comments from C31XR owners with regard to how the antenna stands up to this sort of condition. Thanks and Merry Christmas!
