other yagi designs. My Warc7 at 104' is my nosiest antenna for precipitation static. The static decreases as I go down the tower, but that is normal. My C3SS at 41' has very little precipitation static compared to my C31 at 82'. Years ago when I had two towers - 104' and 55', I had static on the top antennas on both towers. For a time I had a Gen Quad at the top of the 55' tower. That was a very quiet antenna compared to my yagis. During a snow storm, I was able to work dx on the Gem Quad that I couldn't hear on my HyGain Long John's, due to precipitation static. I have been very pleased with my WARC 2/2/1 yagi, which is located at the 115' level about 10' above my Telrex TB6EM. However, the rain static that I experience seems to be higher than what I am used to with other antennas. Typically, during a rain shower, I will experience a constant rain hash of anywhere from S5 to S8 on all three bands --- pretty much making it useless for any weak signal work. What I am wondering is whether this is an inherent issue of the Force 12 design or not. The Telrex will generate some rain static, but not to the degree of the WARC 2/2/1 --- and my wire antennas are almost impervious to the rain. Also, is there any way to reduce the rain static on the Force 12, or am I pretty much stuck with this? Thanks for any insight.
