Seems to me his facts seem to change as he sees fit... to adjust the >spin on the Force 12 story to fit his needs. I am confused. I know you're easy to confuse Tommy, so let me explain. If you'd read all my posts again, I never ONCE said I *owned* the 5BA and I NEVER said it was co-located with the Mag340. The 5BA is installed at a club station of which I am a member. In fact, I have stated on numerous occasions that the 5BA was installed at a club. That club station is located in a fairly high, remote part of North Yorkshire in ENGLAND which sees very high winds. That means the 5BA is installed some 230 MILES away from the Mag340. Understand now? The 5BA was included to show that this problem/failure mechanism is not just a one-off failure. Sorry it confused you. In GI, where the Mag340 is located, the highest gusts recorded in the past 30 years have been 100mph. Hence the purchase of a 100mph antenna. It failed miserably. In G, where the 5BA is located in Yorkshire, the highest gusts in the past 20 years or so have been in the order of 112mph. Hence the purchase of a 120mph antenna. That was the highest rated 5BA at the time. Since it has been installed the highest recorded gust was 106mph, well within the 120mph rating. In fact, the highest recorded gust in England was 118mph in 1979 in Cornwall (~250 miles from Yorkshire). This antenna should not have failed - it did, TWICE. >Why would anyone >who knew or even SUSPECT that windgusts would get to 106, buy a 100mph >antenna? We didn't. YOU *assumed* we did. As I said before, where the Mag340 is installed, the highest recorded gusts in the past 30 *YEARS* have been 100mph. Equal to the rating of the antenna. It shouldn't have failed. >Over the past three years or so this same old tired story has more >twists, spins and hot air than the tornados that just wrecked half this >country. Yes, and the vast majority of that hot air has been coming from you. Go back and read all my reflector postings from the past, then look at the pictures again and come back and tell me what has been twisted or given spin. You will have a *very* short list (if any). The pictures speak for themselves. >So, we all know that Andrew hates F12, I don't hate F12, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone, apart from my worst enemy maybe. >whoopee...time to move on. We have. Force12 refused to do anything about the antennas that had failures due to design faults so we had to do it ourselves, at our cost. That is a ridiculous situation and should be highlighted. There is nothing wrong with highlighting these issues. People should be aware. Also, when the antenna was ordered there was a long delay in the delivery. Numerous lines of contact had to be made with the factory to see what was going on (at one stage they had 'mislaid' the order!), and eventually we were told it was despatched after a few months. As a result of the messing around the order was very nearly cancelled (wish it had been now). At the time, the factory promised a free balun as a token gesture for all the messing around we were given, which would have been nice. It *still* has not appeared, even though they were reminded a couple of times. If that's customer service, I don't want any of it.
